Laurens Sweeck took his first victory of the season, winning the fourth round of the UCI World Cup. In Maasmechelen Sweeck proved too strong for the competition and crossed the line solo after an impressive race.
Earlier this year, Sweeck already took two second places (in Waterloo and Fayetteville) and finished 4th in Tabor last week. In the World Cup GC Sweeck sits second behind leader Eli Iserbyt.
“I’m really happy with this victory. Luck was on my side at last. I’ve been close for a few times and showed to be one of the best riders at the moment. I had a good start and the legs felt good right away. It was racing on our limits when taking turns and I made it. It’s my first World Cup victory ever. I’ve chased this one for a long time.”
