Toon Aerts won the penultimate round of the X2O Badkamers Trofee series in Lille on Sunday, finishing solo after a muddy, rainy and windy edition of the Krawatencross. Aerts strengthened his series lead and is already certain of winning the overall X2O Badkamers Trofee for the first time in his career.

Aerts was the first to up the pace and rode from start till finish in front. He didn’t let Laurens Sweeck and Thijs Aerts close the gap and was able to enlarge his gap in the next rounds. It was clear early in the race that Aerts would seal today’s win. Eventually, it was Vandeputte (2nd) and Vanthourenhout (3rd) who joined Aerts on the podium.

As second placed Eli Iserbyt in the overall classification had a complete off-day, Aerts now has a confident lead with one more round to go. As Aerts has a gap of 7.23 Iserbyt, the rider of Baloise- Trek Lions is is already certain about claiming the overall series win. The maximal time loss per round in the X2O Badkamers Trofee is 5 minutes.
