Wout van Aert took his sixth victory in a row, winning the Azencross in Loenhout ahead of Michael Vanthourenhout and Toon Aerts.
Van Aert made a decisive attack in the penultimate lap, where he rode away from Vanthourenhout. This way, the Belgium champion was able to take his 6th solo win in the 2021 – 2022 cyclocross season. In the back, a strong Toon Aerts gained time over Eli Iserbyt in the overall classification of the X2O Badkamers Trophy.
Wout van Aert:
“In the beginning, I pushed along, and then I accelerated towards the end. It went well, especially on the muddy section. I’m happy with this victory. I tried to ride as efficiently as possible as the wind was blowing pretty hard. If you go full speed right away, you won’t be able to hold on until the finish.”
“It’s going really well. I have to make sure I get through the next races well, especially in the run-up to the Belgian championships. There are still a few more races to come in a short period, but I’m enjoying it.”
