Wout van Aert took his third stage win in this year’s Tour de France and his 9th Tour victory overall.
Van Aert clocked a time of 47:59.86 over the course of the 40.7 km route, which was enough to top teammate Jonas Vingegaard and Tadej Pogacar. Van Aert also secured the ‘Super Combativivity’ Award, being the most aggressive rider throughout the three weeks of racing.
Wout van Aert:
"It’s unbelievable. These three weeks are beyond comprehension. We are riding with a powerful team. I thank the whole team and the entire staff from the bottom of my heart. It means a lot to me. We are making our dreams come true. Dreams for which we have been working very hard for so long. Today in the time trial, another dream scenario took place.”
“It was a really fast TT, I had to save some energy for the two hard climbs at the end. I paced my effort well. Technically I made no mistake. It’s a special setting coming to the top of this village. It was a great day.”
“I gave everything to achieve this. I live to win races. Jonas (Vingegaard) can bring the yellow jersey to Paris tomorrow. It's really very special to be part of this team."
